Our Story
Our journey which started very humbly with meetings in Rev. Louie Naidoo’s garage and then a school hall sees us now finally in our present church building situated here at 20 Dowland Avenue, Hillary.
TEAM church planter, Rev Dan Dougherty, together with his wife Tricia and son Derek came to Queensburgh in 1999. The then National Council of the Evangelical Bible Church (EBC) was supportive of a joint venture between The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) and EBC personnel. This was the start of a working relationship between Rev. Louie Naidoo, Elder Christy Thanjan and Rev Dougherty. With the added support of the late Ps Dan Naidoo, Kharwastan EBC and EBC members who had moved into the Malvern area, the work soon took off. The church met for just over 8 years in West Park School hall.
In 2004, the church acquired this current property and early in 2008 started its building project. With the generous help of various partners we were able to complete and move into our own building on 29 March 2009 with 70 members. The church was officially dedicated to the glory of God on Sunday, 12 July 2009 by Rev Dan Dougherty and Pastor Louie Naidoo. The plague reads, “this building is a testimony of God’s goodness and the generosity of God’s people.”
Louie Naidoo experienced the call to enter the pastorate fulltime in August 2007. After serving a one-year probationary period, he availed himself for a call to the pastorate of EBC. QEBC, later interviewed him and extended a call to him to be the first fulltime pastor of the church together with his family. His tenure as pastor began on 01 February 2009 and a special Induction Service was held on 11 October 2009. Eight years later, on 28 May 2017, he was set apart and consecrated as an ordained minister of EBC. QEBC continues to enjoy his passionate preaching, pastoral oversight and leadership.
Much of the success of the church is attributed to a hardworking and committed Leadership Team. This, together with a band of dedicated departmental leaders, contributes to a vibrant and dynamic synergy. QEBC’s mission is to contribute to spiritual regeneration and social upliftment, both locally and globally.
We have every reason to celebrate our milestones for we have experienced the “good hand of God” upon the fellowship. Hence, we can agree confidently with the Psalmist “The Lord has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes” (Ps 118:23).
What We Believe
Our beliefs form the foundation of everything we do and teach at QEBC.
The Scriptures
WE BELIEVE the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of man, and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith, life and conduct.
God
WE BELIEVE in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ, without any change in His eternal Deity, became man through conception by the Holy Spirit and virgin birth. That He died on the cross, a perfect and complete sacrifice, in our stead and for our sins, according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into Heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on high. He is now our High Priest and Advocate.
Holy Spirit
WE BELIEVE that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict of sin, and to regenerate the sinner upon believing in Christ, at the time of regeneration baptizing the believer into the Body, of which Christ is the head, and to indwell, guide, instruct, fill, and empower the believer for godly living and service.
Man
WE BELIEVE that man was directly created by God in His image but fell into sin. The entire human race is therefore lost, and only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.
Salvation
WE BELIEVE that the atoning death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground of justification and salvation for all who believe, and that only such as receive Jesus Christ by personal faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
Return of Christ
WE BELIEVE in the personal, pre-tribulation, pre-millennial return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that his blessed hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.
Last Things
WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord in Heaven, and of the unbeliever to judgement and everlasting conscious punishment in the Lake of Fire.
The Church
WE BELIEVE that the church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body, of which Christ is the Head.
The Ordinances
WE BELIEVE that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during this age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation.
Christian Conduct
WE BELIEVE that all the saved should live in such a manner as will honour, glorify and not bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord and that it is commanded of God to remain separate from false doctrine and sinful pleasure, practices and association.
Satan
WE BELIEVE in the personal existence of Satan, whose intent is to supplant God and frustrate His purposes and whose ultimate end is consignment to eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.
