Welcome To The Outreach Ministry

We also praise God for His faithfulness in giving us the strength to continue the work at two shelters in the Durban CBD. Our Saturdays are always filled with joy knowing that the work we do brings joy to the people at these shelters. To arrive at the shelters and hear the excitement of the people that we are having a service, and they are getting a meal is very heartening. They welcome us like family as we arrive, yes, we are family!

The Nest Outreach: This is a shelter for the homeless in Cato Street. The team visits once a month on a Saturday afternoon.  We are treated with respect and are always welcome to sing a few songs and impart the Word of God. Sometimes we get to listen to testimonies and pray for the sick. Andrew who manages the Nest is forever grateful for the church’s love and support received every month for around 80-90 people.

The City Shelter: This is another homeless shelter in Cato Street which offers a bed to sleep in for those who are otherwise left to sleep on the street corners and around shop entrances. The City Shelter had some improvements done in beginning of the year with a coat of paint which brightened up the place. Another organisation did that improvement. Our team ministers to around 60-70 people on a Saturday evening. Innocent is the person who manages the place. A hot meal is provided for them once a month. Here again songs are sung, and the Word of God is preached.

Please continue to pray for these shelters. Our goal is to reach these hurting and hardened souls who resort to begging for their day’s shelter. Pray the Word will build their faith and change will come. We generally have people leaving and moving on in life and new people coming. But this year we had two people pass away suddenly.

Our church continues to collect canned goods for distribution for people around our church who come to our doors.
